Tony Awards showed a new way of conducting an award show
Tony Awards 2021 has burned down all the myths of an award show. Its livestream too reached a whole lot of people. And this award ceremony showed a way of honouring the winners for their performance.
The show went on with a two phase program. Firstly, Tony Award Winner Audra McDonald announced the winner for almost all the categories.
However, Tony organizers, Paramount+ and CBS put up the 74th Tony Annual Tony Awards differently. All the attendees were masked and vaxxed as the hosts backed up to the viewers.

The second phase was hosted by Leslie Odom Jr. “The Tony Awards Present: Broadway’s Back!,” was the name of the show.
The biggest honours were received by ‘Moulin Rouge’. As it portrayed a love story from 2001 Baz Luhrmann film. The producer lauded the Tony’s for appreciating the show. Also admired the previous season.
But ‘The Inheritance’ received best play award which was penned by Matthew Lopez.
Overall the show welcomed back the theatres favourite ‘Broadway’ back to life. As the theatre was closed from the start of pandemic.
Other Memorable Moments
The four hour of show was available only on Paramount+ streaming service. Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel shared the joy of going to theatres. And many supported their statement as they were filled with joy of being back.
Jennifer Holliday’s performance of 1982 is still considered as best Tony performance. And she was kind enough to perform again.
Danny Burstein, an old timer of Broadway too received his first ever Tony. He went through a lot during the Covid-19. Also lost his wife to a disease but he too recovered from the Covid-19 recently.
Above all, Broadway shined again with 6,000 attendees in it. Also the experience the award show is a night to remember. The performances too was loved and enjoyed by the viewers. This spectacular experience was postponed many times but at last September 27 was the day.
