Changes in the eligibility Rules and Voting Rules:

  • The International category earlier had only four nominees. Now, as per the latest changes by BAFTA, it increased to six nominees.
  • Another major change in the eligibility norms is that the U.K. performers formerly used to take part in shows only eligible for the International category. But, now they can singly take part even in the performance categories. ( As per the previously revised rules and standards in the Craft divisions for U.K. people working on global shows).
  • BFTA set a new rule that makes the production managers, line producers, and heads of production eligible to have their works recognized officially.
  • Moving on to the changes in voting rules, from 2022 onwards, global voters can now vote for all the categories. Earlier they could only vote for four divisions.
  • Earlier in 2020, it was necessary to meet at least one of the four entry criteria of the BFI Diversity Standards. As for the upcoming event, the condition doubles. Meaning, from 2022, entrants must fulfill at least two of the four entry criteria.
  • Last but not least, the entrants need to fulfill the “albert” certification set by the BAFTA Albert consortium. Nonetheless, this will not impact the eligibility for the awards event.
