The sudden cancellation & lease on new life
“Manifest”, created by Jeff Rake, is an American supernatural drama series. The series premiered on September 24, 2018, on NBC. It is about the passengers and crew members who were travelling by Montego Air Flight 828. And after being presumed dead for five years, the passengers and crew members reappear. Netflix added the series in June 2021.
In June 2021, after having 3 successful seasons, NBC cancelled the series. Despite remaining a consistent top 10 show on Netflix, it was still cancelled by NBC. It was reported that the series was cancelled because Warner Bros Televisions were having complications to keep the cast & crew on board. Some suggested that the decision of cancellation was made purely on numbers by NBC.
Netflix saves the day
Just recently, it was announced by Netflix that “Manifest” has been renewed for a fourth and final season. The news got the fans excited as they were constantly praying and hoping for a new season of the series. The news about the renewal was announced on Saturday morning at 8:28, a nod to the show’s flight 828. The creator of the show, Jeff Rake, took it to twitter and announced that the new season will be having 20 episodes.
It was confirmed that “Manifest” was able to get a billion views for six weeks straight. And was able to break it’s own streaming ratings record. Josh Dallas, who plays the role of Ben Stone in the series, thanked the fans of the series on twitter.
The passengers of flight 828 will return
The news about the renewal of the series was announced on Saturday so, it’s safe to assume that the next season will premiere sometime around spring 2022. The production is expected to start in autumn. The questions fans had when season 3 ended will be answered in season 4.
The ending of season 3 was left open-ended. With one of the main characters dying and the pilot of the flight suddenly reappearing inside the plane left the fans of the series shocked. And because of the cliff-hanger ending fans are eagerly waiting for the next season. And it seems they’ll have to wait for another year for their questions to be answered.
