Peacock’s New Horror Series Brings you the Halloween Spirit

The new series gives off some major Buffy The Vampire Slayer vibes

Peacock just dropped the first trailer for their upcoming supernatural drama, The Girl in the Woods. The series is produced by Jack David and Eli Roth’s production company Crypt TV. It will be available for streaming on October.

The lead character is Carrie, played by Insidious Chapter 3 star Stefanie Scott. Carrie is on the run from a mysterious colony that she claims is protecting reality from “the awful things.” These awful things lie beyond a secret door located in the woods. Once outside the woods, she meets Nolan, played by Misha Osherovich (Freaky), and Tasha, played by Sofia Bryant (I Am Not Okay With This). The three become a monster-fighting trio and face off against some creepy creatures.

The trailer is reminiscent of the classic Buffy The Vampire Slayer as we teens being teens while facing nightmarish creatures.

Crypt TV had made two mini series around the mysterious door in the woods, and a terrifying creature called The Brute that lived behind it. The shorts brought some interest to the whole concept, making head writer and co-executive producer Jane Casey Modderno write the script. The scripts attracted Jessica Jones and Breaking Bad star Krysten Ritter, who co-executive produced and directed the first four episodes. Ritter said she was a fan of horror and coming-of-age stories, and the pilot scripts excited her so much she joined the crew.
