WandaVision Creates History! It Becomes the First Marvel Studios Project to Win an Emmy

The limited series was nominated for 23 Emmys in total

Marvel Studios has officially become an Emmy winner! WandaVision, it’s first television limited series represented the studio at the prestigious awards show on Saturday.

WandaVision, starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany won two Emmys – for narrative (half-hour) production design and for fantasy/sci-fi costumes.

Brace yourselves, for this list is long. The 6-episode series got nominated for 23 Emmys in total. This has been the highest number for a limited series and second-highest for any series overall. The other nominations in the Creative Arts categories include:

  1. Limited series/ TV movie casting
  2. Period and/or character (non-prosthetic) makeup
  3. Period and/or character hairstyling
  4. Main title design
  5. Main title theme music
  6. Music supervision
  7. Original music and lyrics
  8. Limited series/ TV movie/ Special music composition
  9. Limited series/ TV movie single-camera picture editing
  10. Series or movie special visual effects
  11. Limited series/ TV movie/ Special sound editing
  12. Limited series/ TV movie/ special sound mixing

The results for the limited/ anthology series category is not out. Similarly, prizes for best actress, actor, and supporting actors for limited series/ TV movie is not out. However, the main characters did get nominations. Elizabeth Olsen has a nomination for limited series/ TV movie actress, Kathryn Hahn for supporting, and Paul Bettany for lead actor. The series director Matt Shakman has a nomination, among others.

WandaVision was the first series from the studio, premiering in January 2021. It’s a big accomplishment for Marvel to win Emmys and nominations with the first entry. However, the first Marvel show to score at the Emmys was Jessica Jones in 2016, for its title music.

In addition, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier also got five nominations: Guest drama actor, comedy or drama (one-hour), sound editing, movie special effects, stunt coordination, and stunt performances.
